I am Brason Chaney. I was born and raised in Bluffton, Indiana, a small town about thirty minutes south of Fort Wayne. I recently completed my three-year undergraduate degree in Business Management at Taylor University and am currently enrolled in Taylor’s one-year Master’s in Leadership program, which began this summer. Throughout my time at Taylor, the Lord has given me many opportunities to be involved in different ministries and has grown in me a desire to pursue full-time ministry as my vocation after I complete my master’s degree in 2027.

This summer, I have had the opportunity to serve as an intern at Compass, helping with various aspects of the ministry, primarily on the worship side. This experience has been amazing, and I have had the chance to grow in so many different areas—spiritually, as a leader, and as a musician.

One of the biggest lessons God has taught me this summer is that growth often happens outside of our comfort zones. I am thankful that the Lord has allowed me to step into unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations and has used those experiences to help me grow. I am very thankful to be working alongside Jeff and Owen. Their trust in me, willingness to challenge me, and encouragement to step outside of my comfort zone have played such a huge role in my growth this summer.

I have been given opportunities to lead worship on Sundays, at prayer nights, and at Unity gatherings. I also had the opportunity to give one of the Sunday teachings. I have also been able to dream and brainstorm with Jeff and Owen about potential opportunities and goals for the future of Compass and Unity. Through these experiences and events, I have seen God move in incredible ways, and I have truly been in awe of what He is doing through Compass.

One of the things I have loved most about Compass is its mission to empower and equip others so they can go out and make an impact for the Kingdom. That mission has also been a passion of mine, which has made Compass such a great fit for me this summer. Seeing God use this ministry to empower and equip people has been incredibly fulfilling.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend my summer here. I am especially thankful for everyone who has invested in me, encouraged me, and welcomed me into the Compass family. You have truly made this place feel like home. I am excited to continue learning throughout the rest of my internship and to see all that God has in store for the months ahead.
