As many of us know, summers at Compass tend to hold a unique nature. As the room feels a little less cramped and the college-aged faces are fewer and farther between, there is a shift in the atmosphere. It is a shift that I have grown to love, for those who call Compass their home year-round have become like a family, and there is something truly special about worshipping alongside those you are doing life with.

This summer, however, the room has stayed rather full, and you all have sung as loud as ever! It’s been beautiful to see the Spirit of the Lord sweep through the tables and seats on Sundays in worship, teaching, and conversation. I’ve loved getting the chance to see new faces and welcome new families and friends into this building. We are truly blessed by the ability to gather together under the name of Jesus.

In the last few months, we have had the chance to extend our worship outside of just the four walls of the building with the recent partnership with Unity Worship. Unity has held gatherings in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis this summer, as well as a prayer night in the old chapel, where we saw a mix of young adults from Unity and people of all ages from Compass. We are excited to continue exploring more opportunities like these to worship and further this ministry beyond this building. We are preparing for two upcoming conferences, and we are also working on a schedule and curriculum for Taylor’s chapel program to help train young leaders and musicians. We ask that you be praying for us as we do so!

Lastly, as I take on the full-time Worship Coordinator role here at Compass, I want to let you all know that I feel very blessed by each and every one of you. You all have been more formative in my life than you may ever understand, and I am beyond excited to continue to build up and steward what God has given us here at Compass, a place that has shaped me greatly. We are far from done with the work He has entrusted to us. When the music stops, the lights and screens turn off, and we leave our beloved building, I encourage each one of you to live your lives as an act of worship Sunday through Saturday, outside of just these walls. This is also our goal as we move forward and seek new opportunities.
