Toby is excited to be part of the Compass team. His prayer is for God to use his life experiences and journey with Him to help others discover and stay on a path that leads them to the heart of God. Once we discover the heart of God and understand the price Jesus paid for us then we can earnestly and enthusiastically serve him.
Toby's life experiences demonstrate his love for family, farming, and football. He played football at Purdue University, where he met his wife, Diane. After college he started a farming career across the yard from where he grew up. He currently raises corn, soybeans, and pigs as well as operates 3 additional businesses related to agriculture and the Roseburg Event Center. While farming, he was fortunate to invest in young athletes by coaching football at the college and high school level for 24 years.
Toby has a passion for assisting young people in discovering that life is not just about themselves, and guiding them to become a “giver” and not a “taker” in life. In coaching terms it's “keeping your head on a swivel” and seeing others needs before your own and then being bold enough to act as Jesus would.
He has had the opportunity and pleasure to serve God alongside of many men and women in his local church through various leadership roles. God has blessed his family with numerous opportunities to show the love of Christ to those who surround them.
A quick snapshot of Toby's life causes him to reflect on God’s amazing faithfulness. We don’t always do things right, and we find ourselves sometimes asking “so, what did we learn?” but we always try to let God lead because under His direction He will “Make your path straight.”
